Letter to Henry Clay [manuscript] 1841 April 30.

Tyler promulgates the principles upon which he intends to administer the government. He fears the "ability of the country to repel invasion" in the unlikely event of war; is not going to push for resetablishment of the Bank as Jacksonians will still agitate against it; and asks Clay to consider framing a charter that would "avoid all constitutional objections."
